Range Rover Sport Autobiography - Paint Correction with CarPro Cquartz Ceramic Coating Protection

January 16, 2016

After owning this Range Rover Sport for 8 months, this customer initially contacted AutoWerX Detailing for the removal of some hedge row scratches down the passenger side of his vehicle. Upon seeing the car under the correct lighting, he noticed other damage and wash marring across every surface which was inflicted by using cheap car washes with incorrect washing methods and decided to book the vehicle in for a Paintwork Correction followed by a CarPro Cquartz Ceramic Coating Protection.

Eight months of weekly cheap car washes had really diminished and ruined the vehicles appearance so choosing a Paintwork Correction Detail will refinish the lacquer and restore the car to as much of a showroom condition as possible. Applying the Cquartz UK Ceramic Paintwork Protection after will ensure the paintwork would not be damaged further in the future, as long as the correct washing methods are used.

Before any machine polishing or application of protective coatings, the surface had to be prepared properly to enable maximum bonding power between the lacquer and coatings. As always, vehicles that visit AutoWerX Detailing receive a thorough decontamination involving:

  • Paintwork and alloy wheel Citrus Prewash to remove surface grime, then rinsed.

  • Snowfoam pre soak to remove further left over surface grime and prepare the paintwork for washing, then rinsed.

  • Three Bucket Method safe wash, rinsed.

  • Alloy wheels and arches deeply cleaned with PH neutral cleaners, along with an assortment of detailing brushed of various sized.

  • Vehicle partly dried, then Iron and Fallout remover applied and left to dwell for 5 minutes to cleanse the paintwork and remove contaminants that often you cannot see, then rinsed.

  • Tar removal product applied to remove baked on tar and road grime.

  • Clay bar treatment with a fine grade clay bar to remove any remaining paintwork contaminants.

  • Snowfoam then re applied and rinsed to remove any remaining chemicals and residue.

Once driven inside the workshop, the vehicle was dried via compressed air and soft microfiber drying towels to ensure no paintwork marring was inflicted.

The entire vehicle received a two stage machine polish with the Rupes Bigfoot polishing system consisting of:

  • One stage to cut back the damage from the lacquer..

  • And one to polish and restore gloss to the vehicle, adding depth and a crisp finish.

Multiple passes which were repeated on each panel until as much damage was removed from the lacquer as possible and the desired finish was achieved.

After a full wipe-down with CarPro Eraser, the paintwork surfaces received two layers of CarPro CquartzUK Ceramic Coating. This will preserve the finish and also enhance the gloss and over all appearance. Whilst preventing scratches this coating will also ensure that

future washing and maintenance is very easy.

Glass surfaces were sealed with Gtechniq G1 to aid driving in wet weather conditions.

The interior of the car was tidied and leather was cleaned with Zymol Leather Cleaner to hydrate and cleanse.

Exhausts polished, tyres, plastics and arches dressed completed the detail along with a wipe-down with CarPro Reload to add further protection.
